Curriculum Plan for Grade-Specific Recruitment Activities

K-2 Identify 3 nursing activities.
  1. Demonstrate handwashing using medical asepsis.
  2. Demonstrate correct application of a Band-Aid.
  3. Demonstrate the use of a stethoscope to listen to heart sounds.
  1. Wash your hands like a nurse.
  2. Draw a wound on arm and apply a Band-Aid.
  3. Listen to a classmate's heartbeat with a stethoscope.
3-4 Demonstrate 3 nursing activities to promote personal hygiene.
  1. Demonstrate the proper technique for feeding patients who cannot feed themselves.
  2. Demonstrate oral hygiene aspects of nursing care.
  3. Demonstrate washing another person's hands.
  1. Feed jello to a classmate.
  2. Brush own teeth.
  3. Wash a classmate's hands.
5-6 Demonstrate 3 nursing activities related to mobility.
  1. Demonstrate application of an Ace bandage to ankle and knee.
  2. Demonstrate correct walking with the aid of crutches.
  3. Demonstrate techniques for leading a blind person.

  2. Calculate medication problems from milligrams to no. of tablets.
  3. Discuss equipment use by nurses through a question/answer period.
  4. Practice making a bed with a classmate in the bed, plus move a person from bed to chair.
